Retirement Practice

The meaning of retirement has changed.

We can no longer think of retirement as the time after you leave the workforce. Many people now face a point in time where new ventures and a productive life beyond work are the new reality. Overlay this with possibly having dependent parents or financial outlays not part of any initial "plan" and a type of complexity not experienced by previous generations that emerges as a new way to view retirement.

A more useful way to define retirement may be the point in time where you can feel comfortable with your financial independence and have the freedom to choose whether you want to continue working - or not. Modern retirement planning should incorporate the ever-changing conditions of life and embrace the now greater complexities of increased longevity, changing personal interests, appropriateness of financial instruments, adjustments in government regulation and a dynamic economic landscape.

Now, planning for the future is not good enough. People must plan for several possible futures.

A quality retirement plan considers not only the client, but also the possible care of parents, spouse, children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Other issues may include health concerns, medical benefits, lifestyle changes, and investment income strategy. Our services include:

  • Income and cash flow analyses.
  • Plans to include multiple considerations at the family level.
  • Optimal mix of assets based upon tax status.
  • Provide detailed account of how and when to take pension benefits.
  • Optimal extraction of money from all types of accounts.
  • Coordinate issues associated with medical benefits.
  • Annual review and financial projection with recommendation and modification.
  • Strategy for "retiring" before 59 ½.

Cascade understands that life is a dynamic process subject to changing needs, events and requirements. We work with our clients to insure that not only will financial needs be met as circumstances change, but that our clients and their families can live well and adapt as necessary through a common vision and financial structure to protect your wealth.
